What do I need to become a social worker? Becoming a social worker entails approximately four years of study and at least a bachelor’s degree. How to become a social worker also includes two more years of school if one wants to get a master’s degree as well. While the requirements for social worker positions only require a bachelor’s degree many people even go on to get PhD’s to further their knowledge and salary capabilities. The skills of social worker positions are varied are extensive. Social worker jobs require people to be able to work with a wide variety of people as well as a wide variety of organizations as well as have excellent writing, listening and oral skills. In addition, social workers need to have a certification, registration or a license in order to get a job. This is dependent upon what state a person lives in and the specific requirements from that state.

There are many different types of social worker jobs you can go after. You can be a foster care social worker, a clinical social worker, a psychiatric social worker, and a school social worker. As you can see you have many great choices you can choose from if you want a social worker career.
